My current role is Director of EDI compliance and Internal Auditing at Federally Qualified Health Center. My daily duties are to ensure data integrity across all clinical charting, coding, and claims. I also prepare reports for state and federal agencies and collaborate with senior leadership on various projects and strategic planning. I assist with training efforts, EHR clinical workflows, EDI billing setup, provider onboarding, and oversee our Internal Auditing department. Furthermore, I'm currently the Chair of CPCA's (California Primary Care Association) Billing Peer Network and serve as steering committee member of NACHC (National Association of Community Health Centers).
I've recently received my Master's in Health Care Informatics. The MSHCI program has been instrumental to learning more information about how data can be used at all levels of healthcare. Anywhere from patient revenue cycle, finance, quality outcomes, continuity of care, and key performance indicators. The curriculum enhanced my current knowledge and filled in the gaps where I needed to improve my data yoda-ness. I value the skills I learned to better approach my current position but also when I am ready for the next step in my career.
When I think about my career and opportunities ahead, the sky is the limit. The MSHCI program has given me the tools and confidence to excel in my current position and to dream big. Someday I would like to be Chief Operations Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, Professor, or start my own business.
